Things that should be done when building web pages
- Use keywords that result from a keyword analysis.
- Pick one or two phrases for each page.
- Keep other key words in mind while building the pages.
- Use keywords in filenames and directory names.
- Keep a shallow directory tree. Bots will only search so far.
- Create a good TITLE right below <HTML>.
- Create a KEYWORDS meta tag.
- Create a good DESCRIPTION meta tag - this is more important than keywords.
- Make sure your pages contain actual text, no text embedded into images. The exception is for emial addresses to prevent spam & spam bots.
- Use CSS (cascade style sheets).
- Use keywords in <H> tags, bold, italics, bullets, <STRONG> tags and title case.
- Use important keywords near teh top of the page and multiple times.
- Use keywords in your links, try no to use 'click here' text links.
- Use a combination of techniques, do not overuse any one method.
